Happy birthday baby Wendy! We're so glad you're here!
Tuesday afternoon my Dr. and the Maternal Diagnostics Specialist decided they should induce me because the baby was STILL small for gestational age and they wanted to make sure she was ok. Brandt came home a little early, we dropped Jane off at a friend's house for the night, grabbed some dinner at Popeye's and then headed to the hospital.
After arriving and waiting and waiting, they started inducing me at 8pm. The labor really started 2 hours later at about 10pm. I think about midnight I got the epidural and it helped BUT 2 hours later, it STOPPED working on my left side. I pressed the button a bunch of times for more but it didn't do anything. The contractions were about 1 minute apart and HURT like crazy! The guy came back and administered a different medicine through the IV but it didn't do anything either. I was NOT prepared for that!! I hadn't even reviewed how to breathe because during Jane's labor I didn't feel anything.
So, from 5.5 cm until she was born I felt EVERYTHING on my left side. That was from about 1am until 4pm. Funny thing about Wendy is that I hardly had to push. I pushed a total of 5-6 times for about 5 minutes but she wiggled her way out mostly on her own when I wasn't pushing. I wonder if that means she's a go-getter kind of person.
She was born at 3:58am on 11.2.11 (my half birthday) weighing in at 5 lb 7 oz and is 18 inches long. She has quite a bit of dark hair around the back of her head and looks just like Jane did when she was born. I feel fine enough to go home (much better so far than I did after having Jane) but they need to keep Wendy here because she's been having issues with her blood and jaundice and a couple other things (I'm not worried, they are just too difficult to explain) so I am staying till she leaves.
Here are some pictures...
Dad and Wendy... He adores her!
Even though she gave a lot of grumpy face today:
Jane adores her too but have been NUTS-O since yesterday! She's been sweet to Wendy though:
And, I of course think she's fabulous too. I can't stop holding her.
Girls rule boys drool!
And here she is not grumpy-faced :)
This picture especially makes her look JUST like Jane when she was born:
Lastly, while we were focused on Wendy, trying to get some pictures taken, Jane kept saying, "Hey look mom, I'm texting!" over and over. I think I heard her the 4th time she said it, turned around to see what she was doing and she WAS texting people. She is not and has not EVER been allowed to touch my phone. She's very observant and has lots to teach Wendy! She's going to be the best big sister!
